Bamboo is a programme of highly-interactive training sessions for underachieving school students in Years 10 & 11 (aged 14-16). The sessions address many of the key personal and social issues that cause underachievement and behavioural problems in young people today.

Emotional Intelligence

The Bamboo programme raises the emotional intelligence of our students and each training session is mapped against the SEAL agenda. Recent research by Cambridge Assessment (2009) suggests that the development of emotional intelligence in young people subsequently increases academic attainment, improves behaviour and furthers future career opportunities.

Outcomes

Bamboo students can expect to make the following changes:

  • Improved confidence with a greater awareness of their individual talents and a readiness to display them.
  • Higher motivation levels to achieve academically, to learn new skills, and to participate responsibly in their community.
  • A greater sense of aspiration that includes a vision for what they will do after school and an excitement about their future plans.
  • Better equipped to work cooperatively within a team setting, communicate effectively, resolve conflict and enjoy building relationships.
